Interning for SiriusXM has been an exhilarating experience so far. I currently intern with the Marketing and Sales department under the leadership of the Director of Infotainment. My mentor and I have meshed well together since day one and she has been extremely helpful and instructive. I’m an extremely hard worker and I enjoy challenges; in order for me to thrive in certain environments, I need multiple tasks and assignments that I can complete on my own. My mentor has done an exceptional job at giving me my fair share of work as well as building a professional relationship and a personal relationship with me.
During my first week at SiriusXM, I was given the opportunity to meet multiple employees from different departments and they have all been very accepting of me and very resourceful. When meeting new people or starting a new adventure, I’m always very nervous and worried about if I will fit in or not, but the work environment that I have been placed into has shaken all my nerves away and made me feel very comfortable. A few of my short term and long term tasks have been to collect data from cheetah mail, to analyze consumer behavior from google analytics, and to assist with the creative marketing needs for an upcoming Telematics Detroit Showcase.
Overall, the SiriusXM employees that I have met in various departments such as Infotainment, Legal, Marketing and Sales, Programming, Human Resources, Talent Relations, and Finance have all treated me with respect and have been more than willing to help me with anything that I need. I look forward to continuing my internship with SiriusXM and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the internship holds. If anyone asks me about interning with SiriusXM, I will tell them the truth; I will tell them that SiriusXM has a wonderful internship program and if the interested individuals truly want REAL hands on experience in any field, they should apply!
